Say “Hong Kong” and a lot of things pop into your head – dim sum, shopping, but probably not picturesque pools. But, as it turns out, the city has loads of lovely spots to cool off as the summer heats up – from natural infinity ponds on mountainsides, to the world’s highest pool. And, of course, plenty of hotel pools to boot.
If you’re looking for a place to get some laps in with a view, check out the swimming pool at W Hong Kong. Called WET, it’s perched 211 meters above ground and is the city’s highest outdoor pool. Plus, it offers a stunning skyline and harbour view that’ll make you want to jump right in. And, if you’re not a guest of the hotel, no worries, you can still visit and swim by purchasing a pass (or grab a staycation package that includes access to the pool).
With three outdoor leisure pools complete with water slides, this is one of the best places for kids in the city. And while you have to be in a swimming class to use the big slides, anyone can hop on the smaller ones for some fun splashing. In addition to the slides, this pool complex also has a training and diving pool, and a toddler and round stepping pool.
Another great public pool for kids in the city is Jordan Valley in Causeway Bay. This fab little kiddie pool has its own area with a bunch of cool stuff, including a water slide that resembles a mushroom and even a tree (seriously), a floating mini aquatic animals to sit on, a watersquirting dolphin and shark and more. It’s a great spot for preschoolers and kindergarteners, and kids under 10 are free.
While the public pool system in Hong Kong is pretty solid, the private ones are definitely worth checking out too. The ones at the hotels below offer up top-notch facilities, stunning views and, of course, lots of space to stretch out in and lounge around with a tipple in hand.
