The winner will be announced in October 2021. The judges of the prize will include representatives from academia, the arts and civil society.
Kishore Mahbubani, Distinguished Fellow and Chair of the jury, says, “It is an honor to be a part of this year’s Equator Prize jury. I am thrilled that this award recognizes the outstanding leadership of local communities, Indigenous Peoples and civil society in achieving nature, climate and sustainable development goals for people and our planet.” The Small Grants Programme (SGP) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) has been a long-standing supporter of these initiatives, providing direct funding and technical support to them over many years.
It is crucial for students to have a strong foundation in science to enable them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This is why we are introducing the SGP Talent Prize to encourage young talents in STEM to pursue their passions and build on their strengths. By identifying talented students early, we can provide them with the support they need to achieve their dreams.
SGP Talent Prize is an annual talent search competition open to students in Singapore who are pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. The contest is endorsed by the National University of Singapore, with additional support from the Ministry of Education, and is administered by NUS Press.
This year, students can enter the competition by nominating their teachers. Teachers can nominate up to 10 students each. All entries will be reviewed by our panel of judges, who will shortlist 20 student artworks for the final competition. The winning students will receive a Judges Prize of S$1,400, while their schools will be awarded S$3,500.
