The HK Prize is open to anyone who has innovative ideas on how Hong Kong could become an international development hub. The winner of the prize will receive a cash prize of HK$5 million. In addition to this prize, the winning idea will also be able to get access to a network of mentors who can help them with their next steps. The prize is open to anyone who wants to participate, whether they are an experienced business professional or just starting out.
HK prize 2024: Winners announced
The winners of the HK Prize 2024 have been named at a gala dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Demographer Wolfgang Lutz and members of War Child Alliance won the prize for education development, while philanthropists Mark Jordans and Luke Stannard were awarded the prize for research on mental health. The HK$30 million (around $3.8 million) prize was established in 2016 to support world-leading efforts to create a better future through education.
HK Prize 2023: New Prize Category for Young Researchers
The organisers of the HK Prize have added a new prize category for young researchers to the award. The HK$5 million prize will be given to a researcher who has contributed the most to the advancement of science and technology in Hong Kong over the past 10 years. The organisers hope to encourage more scientists in the city to contribute their work and help boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international scientific centre.
HK Prize 2024: Racing season prize money rises
The total prize money for Hong Kong’s domestic racing season will rise by eight percent for the 2023/24 season, with increases across every class of competition, from Griffins to Class 1 and the Four-Year-Old Classic Series. Including bonuses but not reflecting the seven elite contests featured at Longines Hong Kong International Races and FWD Champions Day, the figure will reach a record high of more than HK$1.38 billion.
In addition to the HK$5 million first prize, a HK$3 million bonus will be offered for the winning entry of each draw. The bonus will be added to the 1st division prize for the relevant drawing, and the HKJC will decide which draws are Snowball Draws. If no winner is found for the first prize, the remaining funds will be placed into a jackpot fund and will continue to be added to the prize pool for each draw until there is a winner. This has happened several times in the past, and has boosted 1st division prize amounts to over HK$100 million, compared to the normal HK$8 million. The jackpot feature will be available for the final ten draws of the season.
